Welcome to Adult Education at First Congregational Church of Westfield. We offer a wide range of programming designed to meet the needs of our diverse congregation and community. Join us as we explore our faith, our world, and ourselves!
Course units are offered in four and five week sessions. In addition, a handful of single day or evening experiences will be available and advertised throughout the year. Sessions are open to the public and visitors are always welcome. Advanced registration is not generally required.
Course offerings are as follows:
"A Restless Soul: The Life and Times of Jacob"
Mondays - April 15 and 22; May 6 and 20
7:30 - 8:30pm, Chapel Lounge
Whether scheming to get the best of his brother, seeing a ladder that rose to the heavens,
or wrestling with a divine being, Jacob was always on the move. During this four-week unit,
we will look at some of the major episodes associated with what is without a doubt one of the
more colorful, complex, and charismatic major characters in the Bible.
"The Next 500 Years"
Tuesdays - April 16, 23, 30; May 7 and 14
7:30 - 8:30pm, Chapel Lounge
In this five-week class we will continue our ongoing study of the history of the Christian Church.
You don’t need to have come to the previous two classes to appreciate the mystics, saints and
sinners, of the years 1000 CE to 1500 CE, not to mention the printing press, plagues and Spanish
Inquisition. Come and learn more about all the things you never knew that formed the universal church.
