AN INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY
Founded on the principle of religious freedom, we are a church with a rich history of progressive thought and action. A strong commitment of outreach to the socially and economically disenfranchised is central to our ministry. In all aspects of our life and mission, First Congregational Church welcomes and affirms people of every race, age, gender, marital circumstance, sexual orientation, physical or psychological ability, economic condition, ethnic origin and theological tradition.
Our community is self-governing. While it is led spiritually by our Ministers, the overall operation and health of the church is the responsibility of all our members, who in most day-to-day matters are represented by the Church Council. The Council consists of the Moderator (Head Lay Leader), Associate Moderator, the Ministers, and the Chairs of our Boards: Deacons; Christian Education; Trustees; Christian Invitation; Outreach; and Stewardship.
AS A SPIRITUAL COMMUNITY WE STRIVE TO BE:

Embracing...A community in which different beliefs are valued and respected
Progressive...Continuing a long history of relating faith to contemporary issues
Authentic...Celebrating the freedom of people to be who God created them to be
Congregational...A church democratically governed by its members
