THANKSGIVING GRACES  (click to print)

Traditional Graces

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth,
Worship the Lord with gladness;
Come into his presence with singing.
Know that the Lord is God.
It is he that made us, and we are his;
We are his people and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him, bless his name.
For the Lord is good;
His steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.
-Psalm 100

Almighty and gracious Father,
we give you thanks
for the fruits of the earth in their season
and for the labors of those who harvest them.
Make us, we pray,
faithful stewards of your great bounty,
for the provision of our necessities
and the relief of all who are in need,
to the glory of your Name,
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with
you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever, Amen.
-The Book of Common Prayer

Contemporary Grace

Lord God, our hearts are crowded with gratitude as we celebrate the feast of Thanksgiving. We have come to this our feasting table with great joy and eagerness, for we are truly grateful to you, Our God, for all that we have been given. We pause now, and in silent prayer, do thank You for the great generosity of Your gifts.

 We also thank one another for gifts – especially for the gift of love and affection that we have freely shared. We are thankful for all who are present at our feast (Names of participants may be mentioned) as well as for all those who have labored in love in order to bring this dinner to our table.

 May you, Our God, bless this Thanksgiving feast and all of us who shall share it in Your holy name: Father, Son and holy Spirit. Amen

Children’s Grace

Dear God, on this Thanksgiving Day, I want to say thank You for so many things: For my family and my friends. For the good food we are about to eat and for everyone who helped to prepare it. For school and learning. For playtime and laughter. For the sun, moon, stars and the Earth. For all of the things that make me who I am.  And, most of all, for You and the love you have for us all.  Amen
