Youth Group
a lively group dedicated to fellowship, fun and faith.
At First Congregational Church of Westfield, our Youth Fellowship Group is open to all sixth through twelfth graders.
It is a lively group dedicated to fellowship, fun and faith. Youth Group meets at least three times a month either at the church for discussion and games, or for events like bowling, mini-golf, retreats and trips to NYC to participate in activities such as Nightwatch at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, the hunger awareness-related Canstruction exhibit, the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit, and other concerts or plays. In addition, Youth Group helps with many social events and fundraisers at FCC, including the Fall Kick-off Brunch, Advent Festival, Spaghetti Supper and Talent Show, and church clean up days, and many more.
Service
Service is important for our Youth Group, and they participate in many outreach activities. Past service projects include sandwich making for and participating in Bridges Runs to Newark and New York City, helping with the annual Super Bowl Party at the Elizabeth Coalition to House the Homeless, serving at soup kitchens with Youth Service Opportunities Project in NYC, and participating in the 30 Hour Famine. Mission Trips
Summer Mission Trips are one of the biggest highlights of the year for the Youth Group. These trips have become a tradition, with many participants coming back even when they are college students to help chaperone. Mission trips have had a profound effect on many of the students, sometimes influencing their career choice.
The participants help to raise the money for the trip through several fundraisers, including a Spaghetti Dinner and Talent Show and a Trivia Night and Silent Auction.
Alexander Award
